Time and over, I come across one or another, who refuse to reply msgs/sms/calls. I’d have thought it was courtesy, at its most basic form, to do so later, if not sooner. In my family culture, we were taught to aknowledge when someone, anyone, speaks to you, or in the least, decline or express an answer in any form, in the positive or negative, by the virtue of courtesy.

However, double standards are commonplace. These individuals, would expect others, to get back to them, asap. I dread to wonder: what if the call/sms was about something urgent, perhaps even life threatening? That split second decision to overlook the call/msg has the potential to spell disaster. An exaggeration you might suppose. A very possible one, I reiterate.

Apparently, our educated brethren feel and act otherwise. Moral decay ,you say?

Or you could say ‘Thank You’, and be on your way.

As the title suggests, my monologue today beats about a very popular concept. the concept of indifference. I say concept because, amongst us, exists, or should I say, live many, whose existence is marked by a very idealistic embracement of ‘indifference’.

Main Entry: indifference
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: disinterest
Synonyms: alienation, aloofness, apathy, callousness, carelessness, cold shoulder*, cold-bloodedness, coldness, coolness, detachment, disdain, disinterest, disinterestedness, dispassion, disregard, equity, heedlessness, immunity, impartiality, impassiveness, impassivity, inattention, inertia, insensitivity, insouciance, isolationism, lack, lethargy, listlessness, negligence, neutrality, nonchalance, noninterference, objectivity, stoicalness, stoicism, torpor, unconcern, unmindfulness
Antonyms: care, heed

So much for indifference. When was the last time you chose not to say something, or act on something which would have made a difference, perhaps, not to you, but the person or event in question.

i)Clearing a table after your meal at a fast food joint.
ii)Walking over a freshly mopped area in a public stretch.
iii)Choosing not to react over a situation between two friends of yours. (this somehow “fascinates” me especially, as I come across this one time too often – I’d thought I’ve give a limb if not a life, to tell off, or fight for the one who’s in the right, regardless of who the closer friend may be. Evidently, this isn’t the case in most friendships.)
iv)leaving the dishes/laundry as they are, cause ‘mom said so’.
v)Appearing nonchalant when someone attempts to talk to you out of goodwill, or sheer courtesy. (this is far more common than one can imagine)

Once again, the fiasco of self-absorption. A sense of “holier than thou” looms over. Which is more patronizing? condescending vernacular or attempting to be dignified whilst not saying anything [to give an impression of 'sitting on the fence' or too high strung, to react]. Well both have equivocal significance.

I bring this to mind now because of the sad reality around me. Ironically, we have phrases galore, to shoot..on the do’s and don’t about care/friendship/love etc etc, on what to do whilst we’re alive/another is alive, and how we can’t do this/that once they’re gone.

Sadly, it’s only when something drastic happens, that one thinks how fragile life is and reminisces on how different things could have been if only, they had reacted, or done something.

Today is the first day, of the rest of your life; and possibly, the last, of someone you know.

Act today.

http://www.paulsadowski.com/Numbers.asp Check it out folks!

Your number is: 7

The characteristics of #7 are: Analysis, understanding, knowledge, awareness, studious, meditating.

The expression or destiny for #7:
Thought, analysis, introspection, and seclusiveness are all characteristics of the expression number 7. The hallmark of the number 7 is a good mind, and especially good at searching out and finding the truth. You are so very capable of analyzing, judging and discriminating, that very little ever escapes your observation and deep understanding. You are the type of person that can really get involved in a search for wisdom or hidden truths, often becoming an authority on whatever it is your are focusing on. This can easily be of a technical or scientific nature, or it may be religious or occult, it matters very little, you pursue knowledge with the same sort of vigor. You can make a very fine teacher, or because of a natural inclination toward the spiritual, you may become deeply emerged in religious affairs or even psychic explorations. You tend to operate on a rather different wavelength, and many of your friends may not really know you very well. The positive aspects of the 7 expression are that you can be a true perfectionist in a very positive sense of the word. You are very logical, and usually employ a quite rational approach to most things you do. You can be so rational at times that you almost seem to lack emotion, and when you are faced with an emotional situation, you may have a bit of a problem coping with it. You have excellent capabilities to study and learn really deep and difficult subjects, and to search for hidden fundamentals. At full maturity you are likely to be a very peaceful and poised individual.

If there is an over supply of the number 7 in your makeup, the negative aspects of the number may be apparent. The chief negative of 7 relates to the limited degree of trust that you may have in people. A tendency to be highly introverted can make you a bit on the self-centered side, certainly very much self-contained . Because of this, you are not very adaptable, and you may tend to be overly critical and intolerant. You really like to work alone, at your own pace and in your own way. You neither show or understand emotions very well.

Your Soul Urge number is: 1

A Soul Urge number of 1 means:
Your Soul Urge is the number 1. With a Soul Urge number of 1, you want to lead and direct, to work independent of supervision, by yourself or with subordinates. You take pride in your abilities and want to be recognized for them. You may seek opportunities to display your strength and usefulness, wanting to create and originate. In your desire to manage the big picture and the main issues, you may often leave the details to others.

The positive 1 Soul Urge is Ambitious and determined, a leader seeking opportunities. There is a great deal of honesty and loyalty in this character. If you possess positive 1 Soul Urge qualities, you are very attainment oriented and driven to success. You are a loyal friend and strictly fair in your business dealings.

The negative side of the 1 Soul Urge must be avoided. A negative 1 is apt to dominate situations and people; the home, the spouse, the family and the business.

Are we free enough to accept the person we are, with all our earthy drives and motivations? Can we sit easily with the human condition without denying or hiding the person we are?
I sit on my chair, nestled in a paradox. I remember the time when I was a teenager and had a blog or two, to my credit. Vast amounts of commentaries and synopsis’ on every other agenda. Years have rolled by and I wonder, if my perspectives have changed. They certainly have. I have learnt that being blunt, doesn’t quite evoke sentiments one desires. One has to employ the use of politically correct vernacular, to draft a idea. Nevermind the hypocrisy which tags with it. What seems to matter, is how you say what you say, and in return, how it is discerned by the listener. I had often thrived in making a point or a statement with or without the intention, to hurt. Emotionally of course. I’d have thought one would be lead to think why another says such and see to the relevance of what was said. Alas, we live in a society bound by self absorption. One too many times I come across an individual who’d rather be offended at what was said, rather than spare a minute’s wisdom in sporadically searching him/herself.

It is often suggested that the basis of any relationship, has to function within the sphere of friendship. That is to say, one can treat the other on cordial terms and express almost anything, without fear of being judged, ostracised or even being ridiculed at.
The irony is, that is far from elementary; between friends, an almost fake sense of accomplishment and endorsement of qualities, between BGR, an automatic segregation of who says what to whom and how. One too many BGR relationships have often ended in misery. Girl says “how could he say this to me” (how or who else does he say such, then?) Guy says “I don’t wanna hear about it” (who else to then?) How exactly, does a relationship endeavour? There seems to be more limitations within the confines of having a special one, then with a friend. The easy way out. “Let’s be friends” is mindspeak for “look, I like the things we do, but I do not want to be held accountable nor responsible for any possible repercussions that might occur with you due to my involvement”.

Why be, in a relationship? Love? How does love exist within the parameters of conditions present? Our perspective of love is often a diluted spectrum of lust, like and selfishness. Love is pure and unconditional. No strings attached. Like a mother to a child. Like the prodigal son, who’s forgiven for his sins. Like St Faustina, who spent her remaining days, taking care of the person who had cast her despair. Unconditional. No rules. No “If you love me and do this for me, I’ll do this back for yous’”

This, is the predicament of our times. En vogue. It remains to be seen if we’d ever take a step back, and wonder why we do the things we do. The “I’ll talk to you if you talk to me”, the “I’ll sms you if you sms me”, the conditions that are preset, for every other person. Striving to be different is mocked at, even myopically evaluated.

I know what I’ve said, and I know how you feel. Question; Do you know why what was said in the way it was?
